NIHONG (Japan)

Okay guys so I'm ending my strike. Much thanks to a generous friend. So I finally got back from Japan a couple weeks ago and I had a BLAST! I left Friday afternoon and got there Saturday evening. The next day John's cousin took us shopping in Machida and then we took the train to Shinjuku. We walked around the cuty and went to Roppongi Hills Tower where they have an excellent view of Tokyo tower. The next day we visited our friend Mitsuru and I met his grandparents that he lives with. They are so nice. They bought KFC and pizza for us to eat for dinner and even cooked (a lot) food us. We went to this place called the Yunessun which was incredible! It's like a bunch of hot spring jacuzzis but instead of just water they were filled with: Green Tea, CHOCOLATE, coffee, wine, sake, charcoal, chili pepper and others that I can't remember. Obviously you don't drink it so I figured it was okay to soak in it. It was so much fun we really didn't get a chance to just sit and soak because we were too busy running around and jumping in the other flavors! They also had one that we didn't do (thank goodness) that you just put your feet in and little sucker fish come and suck th dead skin off your feet! Disgusting!!!!! We went to Utsunomia to visit John's Aunt, Uncle, and cousins and had Japan's famous Gyoza. If you've never eaten this, you're missing out. It was fabulous. John's Aunt (Keiko) and cousin (Akira) took us to see a shrine, cherry blossoms, and to a really fun souvenir shop! It was great! Then we took the bullet train back to Machida. It fealt like the majority of the time we were on the train (not the bullet train, the normal train). The next day we went to DISNEYLAND TOKYO!!!! It was sooooo awesome. It was raining so there was NO croud! Mitsuru and his amazing girlfriend Rika surprised us by going with us. They told us they were going to drop us off at the train that goes there, but when we saw the Disneyland sign above us we knew something was up. I was so much fun to be there, but even better because our friends were there with us. After Disneyland closed we rushed off to Disney Sea. It's not like Sea World or anything which was what I was expecting from the name. It's their equivalent of our California Adventure, but WAY better. It's called Disney Sea because it's by the sea..... go figure. It was beautiful built like we were by the Mediterranean Sea. They even had gondalas!!! Next day we went bowling with Mitsuru and Rika, and excuse me for owning up to my bragging rights, but we kicked their BUTTS!!!!!!!!!! Saturday John had a huge surprise for me. We went with a group of friends and his cousin Satako to the JACK JOHNSON concert in Yokohama!!!!! Hahahahah! Meredith is so jealous (probably why she tagged me.....). It was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! Finally sunday rolled around and it was time for me to go, but I had the most fun ever, and I got to cross one of my "Counties to Visit Before I Die" off of my list. Thank You's to John, Rika, Mituru, Keiko, Toshi, Akira, Yurika, Michael, Satako, Yumiko, Hideki (maybe next time smart aleck) and everyone else that made this the best trip ever..... oh, and the train conductor that had the weirdest voice I have ever heard in my life!

Seriously?!?!

Ok people I'm getting frustrated with the lack of enthusiasm about our little (HUGE) fundraiser. I'm going to Japan on friday and when I get back I expect to have AT LEAST 1 email about it. I refuse to post anymore blogs and NO pictures of Japan until I get some emails!!!!!! I love you guys but this is a little disappointing :(

The Cause

Okay guys, sorry about the last post. I mixed everything up. Here's the REAL story. Every year my boss (Dr. "Howie" Fox) runs the World Famous Camp Pendleton Mud Run in honor of his late cousin, Amos Fleisher, who died from sudden cardiovascular death syndrome. In the time leading up to the race we have been doing a fund raiser to raise money for the American Heart Association to provide "CPR Anytime" kits. This year we will be doing things a little bit differently. Last summer Dana Hills HIgh School freshman Megan Myers died suddenly while competeing in a cross country race for her school. So this time around we will be fund raising through the Fleisher Foundation, and all prcedes will be used to buy AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) for all of our Capistrano Unified schools. Our goal is to have AEDs available to all sporting events, nurses offices, etc. Every bit counts, even if it's only $5.00. If you would like to donate, please visit www.fleisher-foundation.org , or you can email me at megwhereisrosco@gmail.com and I would be happy to help you out. There is also an extra bonus: If we reach our fundraising goal (this year our office goal is $12,00), Howie and his friend Jason will cut a mohawk which they have to wear until after the race!!! The person to donate the highest amount gets to choose the color of the mohawks!!! Last year was purple! Allison and I also color our hair for the event. I am including some pictures of Amos, Megan Myers, and last year's Mud Run.

Cat and Mouse

Sooooooo gross!!!! A couple weeks ago I went into my mom's room before work to grab something I left in there, and on my way out I found a DEAD MOUSE just laying there on the carpet. EEEWWW!!!! My mom was still semi-asleep so I did the honors of scooping it up and throwing it away outside before I got in my car. I thought it was very strange that it had just died right there in the middle of the room and figured it must have had a heart attack from the cat/Rosco/JT. Then when I was walking up the stairs tonight I saw Charlotte (kitty) sitting right outside my mom's room with a dead mouse in her mouth (gag). I tried to get her to drop it on the floor, but she wouldn't do it. Typical cat. After chasing her around my mom's room (with some help from Rosco) and getting her down from my mom's bed (the mouse still in her mouth), she finally dropped it. But it WASN'T dead! Eww!!!! It took off and ran in the corner behind a bunch of stuff my mom had cleared out of her closet for spring cleaning! Great. So now there's a really ticked-off mouse running around upstairs. Looking back at the memory of the first mouse, I wonder if Charlotte had caught and killed it in the garage and brought it up to mom's room as a trophy...... a really sinister trophy. Seriously..... I don't understand cats. They see "ghosts", chase invisible dust, perform some incredible acrobatics, lick themselves silly, and then look at you like "What? I wasn't doing anything!" Now she's got Rosco in on her sadistic mouse sacrifice ritual. It's a strage world out there (or in here.... whichever).

I Think I'm Turning Japanese

WWWOOOOOOOOOOO HHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally got it! My passport came in the mail yesterday. It took the post office less than a month to process and deliver it. Brownie points to you post man. I think I'm becoming a little obsessed with this trip. I've convinced myself that it's okay to use the money that I was saving to buy a new car with and go and blow it on a vacation because I'm not married, I have no kids and no further obligations (other than work...... but they can live without me for a week). This is a chance of a lifetime that I don't think will come back my way for a reeeeeeeeeally long time, if ever again. I ust hope I don't end up wanting to kick myself for this later.
